The owner and founder of The Healthy Pet is local holistic veterinarian, Dr. Doreen Hock, DVM, CVA. Dr. Hock graduated from Oregon State University Veterinary School in 1987, and went on to veterinary acupuncture school in 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia. With that training, her focus shifted from conventional veterinarian medicine to holistic treatments and nutrition. She opened Eugene’s first holistic veterinary clinic, Pacifica Veterinary Services, in Downtown Eugene.

In 1997, Dr. Hock opened the doors to The Healthy Pet, providing diets and supplements that could help her patients at a time when these products were hard to find. The business grew fast, but our former building did not! In 2009, we moved to our current location on the corner of 28th and Friendly St., in the old Flicks & Pics building!

We strive to carry the highest quality diets, supplements, toys, and treats that are on the market. None of the foods we carry contain corn, wheat, soy, or by-products, and we do our best to ensure that the brands in our store adhere to strict sourcing guidelines.

Our staff is well-trained and knowledgeable about dog and cat nutrition. We are avid pet lovers, and find joy in helping our customers make informed decisions regarding their pets’ health.
